The verdict is in…
Drumroll…the verdict is in! Our camping toilet selection is awesome. We chose the Cabela’s Big Outdoorsman Camp Commode Camping Toilet and it’s awesome!
We’ve recently returned from a road-trip to Arizona and couldn’t be happier with our selection. We got to use it in our privacy tent as well as in the great wide open when we were in the middle of the Mojave National Preserve; no one else was there!
For a recap of reasons why we selected this toilet option in the first place, check out last month’s blog entry. We enjoyed a comfortable seat. It wasn’t too tall and it wasn’t too short. Installing and taking off the bags was super easy. One thing to note, be careful with the bag clips, they could easily fall into the bag if you’re not careful.
It looks just like a regular camp chair and folds up easily. Set up and take down takes seconds. The toilet paper holder was definitely a bonus as was the fold up side table.
At our first camp spot along the Kern River, we chose to use the privacy tent as we were in a campground and the restrooms closest to us were closed; there was a beehive situation. Rather than trek it across the campground and because we were really wanting to test out our new setup, we decided to set up the privacy tent and give it a whirl.
The nice thing about the privacy tent is that there is a vent. And where we were camping is located right in the training flight path of F16 fighter jets as well as C17’s. So, while I was doing my business, I got to look out the vent and watch the airshow. How rad is that?! I also got to enjoy my book and when I was done set it on the table and easily get the toilet paper out of the holder.
When we arrived at our next location, we were the only ones there in the middle of the dessert. No reason to put up a privacy tent. So, we got to enjoy going in the vastness. Fresh air and journaling couldn’t be better.
Overall, we are very happy with our purchase. We love the simplicity and knowing we won’t ever be stranded without a clean place to use the facilities. I super love the fact that you don’t have to deal with the flies that are commonly found at pit toilets.
10 out of 10 - would recommend!
