Reading + Pooping: Your Body Will Thank You

I’ve been hearing a lot lately that people want to get back into reading. I love reading! So, this makes me happy to hear. I have, at times, wanted to get back to reading too. What has kept me away? Mostly my circumstances of not making the time to do so. Honestly, I might have said in the past, I don’t have time, and that’s an excuse.

You might be thinking, “Well, Gia, you’re a busy person and so it makes total sense that you wouldn’t have time to sit down and read.” And, while I appreciate that, it’s not true!

I do have time. We all have time if we choose to MAKE the time to do something we enjoy doing. It just so happens that reading is an excellent contender for how to spend one’s time while pooping. Doing a relaxing activity, such as reading, while pooping may actually be better for your pooping experience. Yes, it’s enjoyable on the outside because we are getting to do something we enjoy doing (even if it’s only for 10 minutes) and it’s better for the insides too.

When we take the time to actually allow our bodies to relax and do what they do naturally and not try to force them to hurry up or not go entirely because we’re too busy and off to the next thing, that can actually be way healthier for our bodies. Pooping is natural and it’s how our bodies get rid of waste that isn’t needed.

Think about it. We’ve all had those relationships where maybe the other person was weighing us down, we could never fully get rid of them and had we taken a moment to relax and do what our body needed and that was to actually get rid of the person, we would have been so much better sooner. Only me?

Back to the reading! It’s a great pass time to focus on something else, get lost in a story and relax - physically, mentally, emotionally - and in a relaxed state, our body is much more capable of fully getting rid of the waste that we don’t need to carry around with us.

So, make that reading list, whether physical books or audio books, and get back to reading. Ten minutes a day is a great way to complete a book. Feel free to share what you are reading. I’m always adding to my list!
