Invest in a Lapboard

The key to a successful bathroom productivity session when not reading or doing something on the phone is to have a solid lapboard - you know the kind with a soft cushy, bottom and a flat desk top (some even have lights and cup holders now too!) .

The lapboard is instrumental when working on your laptop, writing thank you notes, balancing your checkbook or anything else that requires a hard surface. They are an underrated tool that, I feel, should be a part of everyone’s bathroom arsenal. I was first introduced to lapboards as a kid and they were clutch for those long car rides.

Now that I’m older and usually doing the driving, these boards have transitioned into my bathroom office. They also come in handy when working on the couch or outside in the backyard.

One of the reasons I like the ones with the soft, cushy bottoms is because they’re warm on your legs especially during the winter or cold mornings. There’s nothing worse than setting a cold laptop directly on your legs while trying to relax and handle business. Am I right? Bonus if they have a light and a cupholder like mine does. A cupholder for the bathroom you might be asking yourself. Yes - always have water nearby. Gotta stay hydrated. Plus that’s super efficient - water in, water out. Mine also has a little pen or pencil tray and a carrying handle. I mean there’s really no reason not to have one.
